E3 thoughts

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (aka E3) really packed the halls with people again, despite being an industry-only tradeshow. With three new consoles in the wings, expectations were high. The Xbox 360, the Playstation 3, and the Nintendo Revolution were all debuting. In the end it was a bit of a disappointment if you wanted to see the systems. For the most part, they were only being shown behind closed doors.

There were some Xbox 360's on the show floor. Well, Xbox 360 games and controllers...the systems were all hidden in kiosks and were probably development machines. If you stood in line for an hour, you could get a peek at a PS3 prototype in a spinning glass cage. And the Nintendo line was an insanely long 3 hour wait.

Still an exciting show. We've developed a few video game titles in the past and we're looking at the mobile market. There are opportunities for Smartphone, J2ME, Brew, and now WinCE for Gizmondo. Macromedia is making a big Flash push into the market, too, for both Pocket PC and for mobile phones. There's a developer contest going on right now.

Our favorite E3 titles? Spore (very innovative), the Halo 2 map expansion pack, Full Auto for the Xbox 360, Black and White 2, Age of Empires 3, Heroes V, and Dungeon Siege 2, to name a few.
